Wwwowing with our new look website!!!
As you may be aware, we have been doing a lot of thinking about our brand and communications recently. Looking at how we present ourselves, what we say and how we say it. All are vitally important if we want to stand out in a highly competitive and crowded business environment, especially when it comes to talking to customers through our website.
Communicating in a digital world is a tricky task that’s for sure. It is one thing doing all the hard work to get your name onto the first page of the Google rankings, but quite another to keep people engaged and interested once they click that link through to our site. This is why what they find when they get there needs to be exactly what they want. It is estimated that most web users are only willing to spend between 10 to 20 seconds visiting a site before deciding to stay or leave – and that is when they have a genuine interest in what they are looking for! And when they do decide to stay, if the site does not perform well or deliver the right content, then you can wave them goodbye.
Add to this the constant development in platforms such as laptops, tablets, mobiles and even TVs, and you can see that keeping a website current, functionally viable and engaging is no small feat. Taking all this into consideration, we have had a good hard look at our existing website and it was clear that things needed to change. So we set about asking some pretty serious questions about ourselves. Like what is it we do, how do we do it, what are the services we offer, what do customers think of us, what do they think we do well and not so well? What we can say is that we have learnt that our website needed to work better and harder for us. It needs to function across all the currently available platforms, it needs to bring a simple clarity to what we actually do, it needs to be engaging from the first second your click on that link, and most importantly it needs to show off our most important business assets – our people! Yes, the most important thing we learnt was that our people are our most valuable asset! Obviously getting the job done on time, doing good work and meeting our customer’s expectations are all crucially important, but it is the relationships we build as well as the skills and effectiveness of our people that make the real difference and what we are keen to promote in our new website.
